WARRANTY

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

B-TD voluntary warranty described below is provided in addition to and does not limit any rights or remedies available under the Australian Consumer Law or another applicable law.

Your purchase is guaranteed against defects in materials, manufacturing and assembly under normal conditions of use for the periods stated below.

This warranty applies to new products purchased directly from B-TD or through an authorised B-TD retailer. Proof of purchase must be supplied when making a claim.

The warranty applies to standard B-TD products and approved custom variations. Any different conditions for a custom or project-specific product will be stated in the quotation or order form before approval

Warranty periods

Structural warranty

A standard five-year structural warranty applies to all B-TD lighting products.

This warranty covers defects in the fixture body, structural materials, fabrication and assembly under normal use.

LED Modules and Drivers

LED modules, LED strips, drivers and power supplies supplied by B-TD are covered by a two-year replacement warranty.

Coverage applies to failure under normal use where the product has been correctly installed with the approved voltage, driver, electrical load and compatible dimming or control system.

Anodised Aluminium Finishes

Anodised aluminium finishes are covered for five years against premature breakdown, substantial discolouration or loss of finish caused by defective material preparation or anodising workmanship by B-TD.

Brushed, Polished and Raw Metal Finishes

Brushed, polished and raw metal finishes are covered for two years against incomplete finishing, substantial variation outside the approved specification or premature corrosion caused by B-TD workmanship.

Powder-Coated Finishes

Powder-coated finishes are covered for five years against premature peeling, blistering, flaking, delamination or loss of adhesion caused by defective preparation or coating application by B-TD.

Hand-Applied Brass and Copper Patinas

Hand-applied brass and copper patinas are covered for two years against incomplete application, a finish that differs substantially from the approved order at delivery or failure of an applied protective coating caused by B-TD workmanship.

Natural Stone and Alabaster

Natural stone and alabaster components are covered for five years against incorrect machining, defective fixing or assembly and cracking caused by the original B-TD manufacturing process.

Warranty commencement

For direct residential orders, the warranty begins on the date of delivery. Where the product is collected, the warranty begins on the collection date recorded by B-TD.

For trade and project orders, the warranty begins on delivery. A later commissioning date may be registered with B-TD within 90 days of delivery.

Any approved deferred start will be limited to six months after the original delivery date.

A repaired or replacement component does not restart the full warranty period. The original warranty expiry date continues unless B-TD confirms otherwise or the law requires another outcome.

Warranty exclusions

The B-TD voluntary warranty does not cover the following:

  1. The product has been altered, repaired, rewired, refinished or modified without prior written approval from B-TD.

  2. The product has not been installed, used or maintained in accordance with B-TD instructions or its intended purpose. Hardwired lighting must be installed by a licensed electrician.

  3. The product has been used with an incorrect voltage, electrical load, driver, dimmer, control system or other component not supplied or approved by B-TD.

  4. The fault or damage was caused by accident, misuse, neglect, impact, incorrect handling, improper storage or site conditions outside the product specification.

  5. The product was exposed to excessive heat, humidity, moisture, corrosive conditions or outdoor use unless approved for that application.

  6. The damage was caused by unsuitable cleaning products, solvents, chemicals, paint or abrasive materials.

  7. The claim relates to normal wear, minor cosmetic marks, natural patination, oxidation, surface development or inherent variation in stone, alabaster, cast metal or hand-finished materials.

  8. Claims related to damage or costs arising from unpacking, installation, de-installation, reinstallation, relocation or other third-party work. This includes electrician fees, scaffolding, lifting equipment, site access and rectification costs unless approved by B-TD in writing or required by law.

These exclusions apply where the excluded condition caused or contributed to the reported fault.

Nothing in this section limits any right that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

Material and finishes

Every B-TD product is individually assembled and finished. Minor variations in colour, surface and form may occur between products.

Brushed, polished and raw metal finishes may show variation in surface direction, reflection and appearance. Fine scratches, handling marks and gradual surface changes may develop through normal use.

Cast aluminium surfaces may vary in texture, porosity and form. These characteristics are part of the casting process and give each piece its individual character.

Brass and copper patinas are living finishes. They will naturally darken, lighten and develop over time. Areas exposed to touch, moisture, heat or the surrounding environment may change at a different rate.

Natural stone and alabaster will vary in colour, veining, pattern and translucency. These variations may become more visible when the product is illuminated.

Colours and finishes shown in samples, printed material and digital images are representative only. They may not appear identical to the completed product.

These variations are inherent to the materials and finishing processes used by B-TD. They are expected and are not considered faults or defects.

Warranty claims and remedies

Any potential warranty claim must first be submitted to B-TD in writing and accepted before any product or component is returned.

The claim must include proof of purchase, clear photographs of the product and a written description of the alleged fault or defect. B-TD may request further information where required to assess the claim.

B-TD must be notified of any visible damage, incorrect finish, shortage or delivery discrepancy within 14 days of delivery and before installation where possible.

Once the claim has been assessed, B-TD will confirm whether the claim has been accepted or declined. Where a claim is accepted, B-TD may repair the product, replace the affected component or replace the product.

All repairs and replacements are subject to parts availability and production schedules. B-TD will advise the customer of the expected timing.

Nothing in this section limits any remedy available under the Australian Consumer Law

Freight and other costs

The customer is responsible for the initial cost of returning a product or component to B-TD for assessment.

Where a covered fault is confirmed, B-TD will reimburse reasonable approved return freight upon receipt of proof of payment. B-TD will also cover the cost of returning the repaired or replacement product to the customer.

B-TD does not cover electrician fees, installation, de-installation, reinstallation, scaffolding, access or other third-party costs unless approved in writing or required by law.

Large, fragile or permanently installed products must not be removed or returned without prior written instructions from B-TD.

Delivery loss or damage

Delivery loss or transit damage is handled separately from a manufacturing warranty claim.

Where B-TD arranged delivery, any visible damage should be reported within two business days. Concealed damage should be reported within seven days where possible.

The customer must provide photographs of the packaging, shipping label, product and affected area.

Where freight was arranged by the customer, retailer or trade partner, responsibility will be determined by the agreed shipping terms and applicable law.

These notification periods assist B-TD in managing the freight claim and do not limit any rights that cannot be excluded by law.

Return or refund

Most B-TD products are made to order, B-TD does not generally accept returns, refunds or exchanges for change of mind.

This includes where the product was made according to the approved order but no longer suits the intended space, finish preference or project requirements.

B-TD may agree in writing to accept the return of a standard product. The product must be unused, uninstalled, undamaged and returned in its original packaging at the customer’s cost.

Any approved refund may be reduced by reasonable freight, inspection, repackaging, refinishing or restocking costs.

Custom, bespoke and project-specific products are not eligible for change-of-mind return unless agreed by B-TD in writing.

This policy does not affect any rights relating to faulty, damaged or incorrectly supplied goods.

Product care beyond warranty

B-TD may continue to provide product support after the warranty period has ended.

Paid services may include technical assessment, replacement parts, repair, refinishing, refurbishment and compatible LED or driver upgrades.

B-TD aims to make compatible service parts available for up to ten years from delivery where reasonably possible.

This does not guarantee that the original component, finish or stone will remain available. Where required, B-TD may offer a compatible current alternative.

All after-warranty services are subject to assessment, availability and a written quotation.
